Designated GCSE Classes

We understand some students may be struggling in one subject more than another hence we have a selection of designated GCSE classes. These are open to GCSE students, re-takers or adults.

GCSE Foundation Maths -> Tuesday (6-8pm)

GCSE Higher Maths -> Saturday (11am-1:30pm)

GCSE English (AQA) -> Saturday (11am-1pm)

GCSE English (Edexcel) -> Saturday (11am-1pm)

iGCSE English (Edexcel Specification B) -> Saturday (9am-12pm).

GCSE Biology -> Saturday (11am-1pm)

A-Level

For A-Level students, we have designated subject classes. Re-sitters are welcome.

Biology/Chemistry

The sessions are split into two 1-hour blocks – 1 hour AS, 1 hour A2. You may day one hour of each subject or do the full 2 hours for one.

This session runs on Tuesday (6-8pm).

Maths (Workshop)

Due to students being at different levels, we changed the way we run this session – we host A-level Maths on a ‘1-2-many’ basis.

Students bring their own work and the teacher will rotate between them all for the full 2 hours. Whilst waiting, the student may answer questions/past papers on said topic and if you are struggling, the teacher will once again return to assist.

This session currently runs on Tuesday (6-8pm) and Friday (6-8pm).

We also offer 1-2-1 in a variety of subjects, please e-mail/call us directly  for further information.

Alpha Tutorials does not offer online teaching.

Private Exam Candidates!

We are able to host the sitting of any written papers (see more information below).

To enrol, you will need to come down to the centre in person.

You will need to bring:

– Passport-Sized Photograph

– Form of Photo ID (Passport/Driving License etc.)

– Previous Results Slips/Certificates

The enrolment’s are done on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure you are being entered for the correct exam. To save time, please ensure you have the correct examination codes with you to hand.

The fees are £130 per paper – this fee is due immediately after the entry has been made.

There a few sessions left where you can come and enrol:

Thursday 13th February -> 18:00-20:00

Saturday 15th February -> 17:00-19:00

Deadline – 15th February

Any entry beyond this date will be subject to a late fee.

Non-Examined Assessments

A few examinations have a non-examined assessment which is internally moderated. Unfortunately, we are unable to carry most of these segments out.

If you are re-sitting, the exam boards allow a carry forward option on this segment for the majority of these exams from your previous sitting meaning you can just re-sit the written papers – this we can accommodate.

The main example of this is the practical component for science re-takes. To be entered, you would need to have passed the practical component on your first sitting (most likely done at your respective school or college). If you didn’t pass, you would need to re-sit these at a practical centre authorised by the respective exam board.

For English/Language students, we have speaking assessors for the majority of the languages offered so if you haven’t passed (or haven’t sat it before), you will still be able to take the exam.

Feel free to reach out to us to clarify if we can accommodate your chosen subject(s).

Access Arrangements

Kindly note, we are able to accommodate any access arrangements for this season. This includes extra time, rest breaks, scribers, remote invigilation and more.  We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

A Little Help From You Goes A Long Way For Them

Our mission is to support children from war-torn countries, such as Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, and others, who rely on local aid for a better future. We aim to enhance their education and provide opportunities for success.

You can help by donating or sponsoring a child’s tuition for one academic year at Alpha Tutorials. The cost of one year’s sponsorship is £700, covering the core curriculum with weekly 2-hour sessions. Your contribution not only impacts the child’s life but also benefits their family.

Please consider donating £50 to sponsor a refugee child for an entire academic year (38 weeks). Many of these bright students, have limited resources. Your donation can make a real difference.

My daughter wanted to express her thanks for all of the support with booking her in with her English Exam. She felt reassured and at ease within the exam centre which helped manage her stress. Thank you team Alpha!

I got into Hull York Medical School on a standard 5 year course thanks to the support of everyone at Alpha. I can not believe that one day I will be able to serve the community as their Doctor. Thank you for giving the Somali community member a chance in life.
Suweyda
I may have disappointed you at the time with my attitude, however as I matured and grew at Alpha Tutorials I realised my own selfishness and importance of my GCSE Maths & English in this country. I can only apologise for my attitude and I'm thankful for all the support Alpha had given despite all the odds.
Riddhi
Thank You very much for giving me the opportunity of studying for my A-Level revision classes and allowing me to sit the external exams. I came to Alpha with no hope, but I have just been accepted to study Physics course at Leicester University. I cannot believe how I was able achieve such high grades. Thank You for patience and understanding.
Aamar
I felt really comfortable sitting exams at Alpha Tutorials. I would not have been able to sit for GCSE's had I been at School due to my anxiety levels and the large sports hall will over 200 student. I was able to perform really well and I would personally like to thank the entire Alpha Team for looking after me whilst I was doing my GCSE exams.

I was not sure how Alpha was going to be able to help me after spending 2 years at a local Sixth Form College procrastinating and not achieving the grades I needed to go to a good University. After joining, I realised that how easy my life became. My predicted grades were in place by my tutors, my UCAS reference was written, and infact I am currently studying Software Engineering at Leicester University. This would not have been possible 2 years ago.

I really wish I had not listened to my daughter and removed her from Alpha Tutorials. She always said that she found things too easy and would prove that she could attain her grades. She was not able to secure any of the A-levels she wanted to do and now her friends have moved onto Universities. Cannot turn the clock back! Wasted a year and opportunity.
Jayaa
Just wanted to say thank you so much to Alpha Tutorials as my daughter got her results today (11th January 2024) for the November 2023 exams in Maths and English. She passed both Maths and English and she could not have done it without the help she received from the Alpha Tutorials Tutors. Thank You so much.
Nikisha's Dad
There is one person at Alpha who did not give up on me. This was now my 4th attempt at passing GCSE Maths and English. I was mis-guided at School by my friends and only wanted to break into professional Football. I took a year out and wasted the whole year. I restarted College with no qualifications and with Entry level type of courses. However, what I needed to progress was GCSE Maths and GCSE English. The two tutors at Alpha Tutorials never gave up on me - even though I was still a laid back chap. Today, I am on the verge of going to University. Thank You Alpha!
Kwaku
I achieve my grade 5 in Maths and now I am on the degree course at DMU rather than a Foundation Course. I would personally like to thank one maths tutor who pushed me to achieve a place on Finanical Accounting Degree rather then spend a whole year on the Foundation course that would have been more expensive to add on an extra year to my student loan.
Viddhi
I would personally like to thank one person in particular at Alpha Tutorials. Without his help, I would have never see my son at a Further Education College. This person took on my son when I found myself in a very difficult situation and pennyless. I was homeless due to family Issues and benefit dependent living in a refuge with my 15 year old son in a single room. My son had to give up his school in Year 11 to be with me in Leicester. Today my son is doing a Level 3 T-Level course in IT. I cannot believe that these kind of people exist in todays cruel world. It restored my faith in humanity and now my son will also fulfil his wish of becomng a Haafees.
